Brightest Kind of Darkness, Book 1
When destiny is on the line, will love be enough to light the way?
Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.
After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.
Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.

“…This book in one of my absolute favorite books that I have ever read. I am so excited for Brightest Kind of Darkness – Lucid to come out, I will be anxiously awaiting to see what happens!!…” Click here to read the entire review on Fictional Distraction Unique, dark, brilliant
“…After reading a book like this, sometimes I really wonder… why is this book an indie? Did the author decide to just be indie, did companies really not want to pick up this wonderful story? Whatever the answer, Brightest Kind Of Darkness is a brilliant read. I absolutely love the way she matched our two main characters with their unique abilities. The darkness of the story. The raw and real every day things that happen through out the story. Mean high school teens, friends, cheating, parties, special abilities, family issues, romance… it’s all so perfectly weaved…” Click here to read the entire review on Shortie Says A fantastic read!
“…First of all, I adore the cover of this book! It’s what attracted me to it in the first place and made me eager to find out more. I really like the bright colours balancing out the darker colours- it’s interesting! Much like this entire book…” Click here to read the entire review on A Pocket Full of Books Absolutely bone-chilling, teeth-clenching, and heart-stopping!

Meaty and Delicious and Wonderful!” Click here to read the entire review at Books Devoured “…One of the best qualities of this book had to be that I wasn’t able to figure out all the mysteries until they were literally right there before me so that kept the plot and book much more interesting. This is definitely a series I will be willing to keep reading…” Click here to read the entire review at Nightly Reading
“…The plot is similar to the movie Final Destination but without all the ickyness and scare tactics. I thought that the author did a wonderful job of incorporating new elements into the whole debate of if you know something bad is going to happen should you stop it or let nature take it’s course. At one point I even questioned my own beliefs and that in my opinion makes the author a very talented woman as I am quite stubborn…” Click here to read the entire review on WinterHaven Books Dark, Dreamy and Daring ~

“This is Final Destination less the gore; The Numbers by Rachel Ward less the dark themes – it was the marriage of both which made this book that much more appealing. If you’re thinking that this book will be lacking in suspense and, or will be tame, think again. PT Michelle found a median in which she told this story without losing any of the thrilling elements found in both aforementioned works. The realistic romance, the mystery surrounding Nara’s abilities and her constant meddling with fate made for some gripping read…” Click here to read the entire review at Joyous Reads Amazing Book!!!
“One thing that I enjoy about books is the way the plot flows. This plot not only flowed nicely, but grabbed the reader at every turn of the page. I have never been so bombarded by literary goodness that all I could do is eat popcorn, snuggle deeply with the book and hold on for the ride!… …This book is amazing! Every word, every page lead me onto a higher place! I loved being taken by surprise, gasping 10 pages in, and having my heart flutter with love. If you want an book that will knock you off your feet, read this book.” Click here to read the entire review at Books With Bite
“I’ll be honest. Sometimes I’m a bit leery when heading into a self-published novel. In my defense though, they can be a mixed bag. Some might not be a great story or they might not have very good (or any) editing. But this one was fantastic. I’m so happy that Patrice provided me with a review copy for this because I enjoyed it a lot!…” Click here to read the entire review at I’m Loving Books
“…If you like paranormal this is a must read, even if it’s a YA. If you like YA there is no doubt in my mind that you will love it. This is a clever and well-presented story, although it can be a little hard to follow sometimes, but it is worth the effort. Brightest Kind Of Darkness will make you feel a whole range of emotions. It will make you wonder if you really own your destiny and about what you are willing to sacrifice for those around you. I spent the last two days pondering those questions and some others, so this was definitely a though-provoking and intriguing story.” Click here to read the entire review at Romance Around the Corner Extremely Original

“… Questions. Lots and lots of questions. That’s the theme of this book for me. It had me asking lots and lots of questions. Why? Well, it’s because I didn’t have a clue where this book was going! I read so much that I frequently can anticipate from every little clue that gets left among the pages. Not this time and WOW was that a NICE experience. It hasn’t happened for a very long time. Now there were lots of clues and I kept trying to piece them together but it was a not go. LOVED that about this book…” Click here to read the entire review on Stuck in Books
“Thanks to PT Michelle for concreting in me the knowledge that self published authors can be GREAT! Whether through person choice of not…why hasn’t this been published by the bigwigs of the book world? It would be well worth the investment. “… I’m incredibly selective with the self-published books I choose to review these days, and it must be said that I’ve been entirely certain as of late that I’ve heard every spin on the paranormal young adult genre that there could possibly be. Brightest Kind of Darkness proved me wrong in the best possible way. The story was solid and strong, alive with fast-paced action, heart-pounding suspense and a plot that grips you from start to finish…” Click here to read the entire review at I Swim for Oceans Absolutely loved it. “… This story was so addicting. It was one of those books where you keep telling yourself you will stop after one more chapter, but you just can’t. I was so wrapped up in it that I didn’t even realize how late (or early) it was. I needed to finish it, but now that I am done I wish I still had more to read. “…I absolutely loved this YA story. The characters were extremely believable and I felt like Nara was a friend of mine telling me her story as I turned the pages. I loved the whole mysteriously dark side theme that ran through the storyline and I found myself riveted to my seat anxiously waiting to see what would happen next. This is the first book in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series and if Ms. Michelle keeps writing other stories along this nature, I feel this series will do extremely well. “…the connection that was formed between Nara and Ethan was so strong I felt it deep down as I was reading. “Oh man oh man, I LURVED Ethan with a passion! *fans self* Loner guy, muscle-y, tattooed, tortured, and utterly devoted to Nara. He’s definitely one of my favorite YA heroes at the moment!… …Ethan was incredible while not falling into that “perfect guy” trap that so many romance heroes fall into. He’s tortured, has a bad temper, is hesitant to open up to Nara, and also has a tendency to be a bit high-handed. However, he’s also completely devoted to Nara and her safety without being all creepy-stalkerish which is refreshing, and there’s also just enough mystery left about him that I’m dying to read the next one if it will hurry up and be released! “A funny little thing happened with this book that rarely happens to me: I bought this after seeing a good review of it on another blog (typical me, can’t remember where exactly) and was furthermore drawn in by that breathtaking cover. Downloaded it, opened it up quickly to read the first few pages, you know, just to get a taste of the story and the voice. Well, after those first pages, I couldn’t put it down. It went with me everywhere, got opened up in grocery store lines, at the pharmacy, even snuck in a few pages on the desk at work (shhhhh!). “Brightest Kind of Darkness is one of the most fantastic thrill rides. A Paranormal Fantasy with suspense and mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. Every time I thought I had figured out Ethan’s dark mystery, of who and what he is, P.T. Michelle threw me another awesome curve. Michelle definitely has a gift with pen and paper. When a storyline and characters can hold me and keep me reading all night, that author has given me the gift I’m looking for—romance in a story, and being able to escape into the fantasy world. Thank you, P.T. Michelle, for giving me that love and fantasy in Nara and Ethan’s story…” Click here to read the rest of the review on I Heart YA Books 5 Stars!

“… This has that mysterious element to it that keeps you reading, the plot is action-packed and keeps you reading on the edge of your seat, and it’s pretty unique, not to mention the fact that it has a hot boy in it Really, I can’t stress how much I enjoyed this. “… Brightest Kind of Darkness is a fresh, thrilling and compelling read. It’s almost got a Final Destination feel to the book but P.T does make this book her own. I can’t help but ask myself, why isn’t this book been picked up by a publisher? Publishers…..seriously you’re missing out. I so want this book sitting on my shelf and I for one am thankful this book was bought to my attention because like I said, it’s not one you want to miss out on…” Click here to read the entire review on Donna, Book Passion for Life 5 Stars!
“… Exciting, atmospheric, action-packed, and intensely mysterious BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS is the best self-published work I have read to date. Michelle’s writing is so good it was easy to lose myself in the pages and forget the time, something few books can do. I can hardly wait for the next book to be released and will definitely be adding Michelle (and her alter ego Patrice Michelle) to my list of authors to watch. I highly recommend this one if you enjoy Stacey Jay or Richelle Mead’s writing styles and for fans of Jordan Dane’s intensity.” Click here to read the entire review on Rhianna, RhiReading 5 Stars!
“… The chemistry between Nara and Ethan could have set my Kindle on fire! With very few words or actions they were able to speak volumes. They had that type of connection where each little touch gives you goose bumps. Sometimes Ethan would just speak a few words and I would blush like mad. Brightest Kind of Darkness brings up an interesting idea–can you run from fate? This book is full of twists and turns and it is impossible to not care about these characters. If you want a spooky paranormal tale with a sizzling romance inside, grab this book! “I do have one roaring complaint about Brightest Kind of Darkness: I want more of it! There are so many things I thoroughly enjoyed from this book. For starters, the action was non-stop. From the opening scene, which put me on edge and shot up my adrenaline even when I wasn’t yet invested in the characters, all the way through to the very end, I was glued to the pages and unable to turn away! Every spare moment I had, I invested into reading more, into trying to figure out the mystery of the dreams and the visions and the crows and…Wait. I’m not making much sense, am I? I always try not to spoil reads, though, so I can’t really explain what the above referred to, but I can promise that you’ll be hooked from one issue to the next…” Click here to read the entire review at Stories of My Life 4 Stars!

“This book was so good on so many levels. The idea of it was so intriguing and even now I have so many questions! When I first started reading I was excited because even though Nara had some kind of supernatural ability there wasn’t any of that usual instant attraction stuff between her and Ethan. I loved how naturally their relationship progressed. They spent time together and built up a trusting friendship first, eventually leading to love. The love I felt as a reader from both of them was so obvious, and I adored how the author used such a natural evolution from friendship to what they now have. I can’t wait to read more about Nara and Ethan… together they make one heck of a pair and I’m so excited to find out what happens with Ethan!…” Click here to read the entire review by Sara Hulce The Romance Review Top Pick
